…So the other night some folks in our church (and other friends) got together for Jared’s 29th birthday party–and every year he has a themed party. Last year the theme was “super heroes,” and the year before it was…well, I don’t even wanna say. But this year the theme was televangelists! See it as tribute, see it as satire, but it had to be seen–guys and ladies all decked-out in their TBN best. I’ll see if I can get permission to post some of the other pics, but here’s one of me preachin’ it, camera red-eye and all.

This, seriously, is one of the top birthday theme ideas I have ever heard. Absolutely fantastic. But who are those guys in the background wearing shorts? Are they the ‘next wave’ of tv evangelists? Are they in the “San Diego” televangelist mode? Was there a money appeal as a birthday gift for the birthday man? That may have been my favorite part. (I don’t mean that to make little of christian tv…but one has to admit, if you are really going to theme the party after that, an offering WILL have to be taken.)
My best idea so far is to have a ‘Let’s Cut the Cheese Party” where everyone brings a fancy cheese, cuts it up, and serves it. But this party theme takes the cake!
With a God like that who needs Mammon!
